It’s been three days since the Stevie Nicks concert at Nissan Pavillion and I’m still in awe! I drove two and a half hours each way to see her. I was lucky enough to shake the hands of the strikingly beautiful rock goddess herself! Her voice was in perfect pitch Sunday night. I’ve been a HUGE Stevie Nicks fan probably since the late 70’s. I have seen Stevie with Fleetwood Mac but have never had the opportunity to see her solo. I had 14th row center orchestra seats. I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed a concert as much as this one. She was beautiful, personable, and sensational! She sang her hits, some older some newer. She spoke of the soldiers she visited at Walter Reed Hospital and when she sang “Has anyone ever written anything for you…” it brought tears to my eyes. I also shed a tear for Beauty and the Beast, what a beautiful song. I was also excited to see her band and back up singers especially Waddy and Sharon. I would give anything to see her again! Stevie, would you consider a second show at Nissan Pavillion? I believe that, along with me that we’d ALL come and see you again! Stevie, you rock! WE LOVE YOU!!!! Keep on Rockin!!!
Kim R. My niece Samantha and I had tickets to see Fleetwood Mac at Nissan Pavilion last year. 2nd row seats, the show was on Stevie’s birthday, and ‘Sara’ was on the set list. How perfect was that?! For us it was the dream that never happened. Stevie became ill and the show was cancelled. We were concerned for Stevie and also devastated that the show was not rescheduled. BUT, good things come to those who wait.
I bought tickets a few weeks ago for the Gold Dust show. Not great seats, but okay. On a whim Saturday morning, I went to the ticket website. Surprise! I got great seats! 7th row! Just goes to show, everything in life happens for a reason, follow your heart and let your destiny ride the wind. Last night was incredible!
Wow! That’s all I can say almost 24 hours after I saw the best show ever.
Vanessa was great. She is on the stage alone. Just her and a piano. She is a young, talented songwriter. I have a feeling she will be around a long, long time.
Stevie hit the stage with an incredible version of ‘Enchanted’. She had so much energy through the whole night, and danced almost as much as me and Sam (I still wonder why we pay for seats when we just stand up and dance all night!).
Highlights of the night were:‘Rhiannon’, ‘Gold Dust Woman’, ‘Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You’(Dedicated to the patients at Walter Reed Medical Center), ‘Circle Dance’ (A Bonnie Raitt song that Stevie makes her own.) and ‘Rock And Roll’ (Stevie puts it all in this song, and Waddy, he delivers it with a smile!) Oh! And the ‘cat’ song, as Stevie calls it, ‘Landslide’. ‘Beauty and the Beast’ was the last song. This is undoubtedly the most beautiful live vocal from Stevie I have ever heard.
I wore a gold shawl for this show, last minute costume decision for me! Thanks to everyone for the compliments!
Oh, almost forgot (Ha, Ha)! When the ‘Edge Rush’ happened, I was there (Had no choice, Sam dragged me down there! Thanks, Sam!) I touched Stevie’s hand. Yes, I cried. But there were others there that had shared the same moment. Group hugs, mutual understandings, sharing something that is once in a lifetime for many, etc. The one thing I have always believed about live music is: You are there as it is happening, and you have a group of people there who have a connection to that artist, and it’s like another plane of existence. Why? Because there is a feeling of ‘Us’ in the crowd. And at this show all of ‘Us’ rocked! From parking lot, to seats, to the front of the stage. We are a rare breed that’s for sure. And we wouldn’t change a thing! Stevie fans are not a flash in the pan, we are forever.
I also got a one of Waddy’s guitar picks after the show! ‘Keep Back 200 Feet’.
Thanks again to Sam for being my chauffer, confidant, and Sister of the Moon. Thanks to all the great fans we met from Richmond, Maryland and beyond. See you next time. (Bring some more chocolate chip cookies. They were great!)
And at last: Thank You Stevie for doing what you do. We love you very much. Whenever I see her live, it awakens the writer in me. And so I close with a few lines…
I step back into the shadows,
And the tears come, yet I am not alone.
And I see them in the bright light,
Smiling children as they reach out,
To touch the hand of a legend.
And I hear her words of long ago,
’Never Change, Never Stop’.
Christine All I can say is WOW! This was really her best in quite some time. I have come to the conclusion that the Mac drains the energy out of her because after seeing her solo several times, she always seems more alive. Everyone has been right about her voice being phenomenal. When she sang Beauty and the Beast is sounded like it did when it was recorded- high notes and all.
So my friend and I had a rough start getting to the show. 95 was running slowly and the restaurant we stopped at was slow as molasses. We missed Vanessa Carlton and could hear Bootylicious playing as we quickly walked into the venue. As we were getting to our seats (Orchestra 2 Row T), the show started.
The best part was that during the drum solo, a wave of people moved down in front of the stage. My friend and I will always try to get down front! We were in row T and figured the worst that could happen is that we would be told to go back to our seats. Nope- never happened! The security at the stage just said not to block the aisles. People had cameras and no one cared. I am 5'10" and was right at the edge of the stage which had to be over 6' tall. Due to my height, I was able to hold Stevie's hand during E of 17! I also got a close look at that Reebok. Did you know it has jewels on the front?
Beauty and the Beast was AMAZING! It sounded incredible, the outfit was awesome. Having the movie playing behind her was awesome. She was so dramatic!
When the house lights came up, people were asking for guitar picks and a roadie threw out a handful. I managed to get a Waddy guitar pick too!
Interesting note by my friend about the tour shirts- I wanted to get the one with the rose and dove but she pointed out that the back had the tour dates listed in an inverted pink triangle with a smaller pink inverted triangle at the bottom. I instead opted for the brown L&L shirt with the frames on it. No tour books.
I would definitely go to this one if you have been on the fence about ticket price, location, etc. INCREDIBLE!

As always i am soooo excited when i hear of stevie coming around our way, i and my clan are from baltimore, md. we all love her voice and her music and listen to it everyday. hearing her music live is just wonderful, i really cant describe how happy i am when i am at one of her concerts. my favorite song ever is gold dust woman but i also love outside the rain and hearing those live is paradise. every show i have been to is wonderful and just keeps getting better. her voice is the best i have ever heard it. i've seen stevie 8 times in the last 4 years. nissan pavilion is a beautiful place to me and seeing her there makes it all the better. she is also radiantly beautiful and we all love watching her perform. cant wait to see her again-ROCK ON GOLD DUST WOMAN!!!!!
Emily Short story: the Stevie concert on 7/10 was amazing. It was a huge treat to finally see her live; I had been planning to go to a FM/Stevie show since 2003, and last year's Fleetwood Mac concert at my local venue was cancelled. After Vanessa Carlton went off-stage, Stevie's crew spent some time getting set up--I had been passively looking for her on the sides but didn't see her. When she did come on stage, it was almost like she had appeared out of thin air, and it was just awesome. I have never heard such a great rendition of "Enchanted", and it was a huge treat to hear her sing favorites like Dreams and Landslide (which brought tears to my eyes!). Stevie had at least 5 wardrobe changes throughout the concert and got her gold shawl for her performance of Gold Dust Woman--that was a neat touch to an already great song. She managed to successfully connect with both the audience and her band--her interactions with Taku Hirano (and the other drummer, whose name I am unfortunately blocking on) were priceless. You can tell that she really enjoys what she is doing and puts her heart into it. I only wish that I'd been able to get closer to the stage, particularly during Edge of Seventeen! In addition to her usual "standbys" that she performs regularly, Stevie's cover of "Circle Dance" was remarkable, and it was priceless to see her appear in a top hat (with two huge feathers on it!) and pants to do Led Zeppelin's "Rock and Roll". It was a fantastic concert and I hope she tours again soon.
Diana The Nissan show was awesome, her voice and appearance were top notch. She rocked as always. My favorite part was of her in the pants and top hat. It was Priceless. Beauty was of course awesome and very emotional. I met a guy and his mom at this show who were totally awesome - I saw he got his package to Stevie - he was lucky enought to be up at the stage touching her hand. That made my night, I was hoping that he would be able to get it to her and he did!! Yeah!! I only wish I could have been up there with them. Just not my time I guess. Again, my camera failed me, but I did get several really good pictures from the screens. The backgrounds during her entire set were awesome, loved the Landslide part where they show her from a baby and throughout her life...She is really beautiful. She also talked a bit about going to visit the US soldiers and asked for everyone to donate money "or even cookies" or send their thanks to them as well. She is so cute....That part of the concert was sweet, and also very emotional... She called Riannon the "cat song" "the song that never dies" and dedicated it to all of us in the audience. Oh yeah.. I was able to get my picture taken with her drummer and bass player! they were very sweet! My only negative comment is that I was not closer... Truly worth going to see her... Perfect!!
Kim Marsh What a night! It started out not knowing if my friend Steph and I would even make it to the show or not, but her parents agreed to watch her daughter at the last minute. Crisis resolved, we floored it to the show thinking that Stevie would start at 9pm. When we got out of the car and started the long trek to the pavilion, we could hear her singing Enchanted. I got upset thinking that she was on her fourth song, but luckily she switched the set list around and it was her first one. We finally got situated on her third song - Outside the Rain, in our great second row seats right in front of Sharon and Jana. This was my third solo Stevie concert, the first being the 05/11 Vegas show (see review) and the second one with Don Henley in Hershey. Stevie looked & sounded amazing! The back up band was awesome too! Before she sang Landslide, she mentioned how the song was like a cat that had nine lives and she playfully pawed at the air. During the song, the big screen behind her showed some old clips of her, which was a nice touch. At the end of the song, we moved up to the stage for the beginning of Edge of 17. Unfortunately, the stage was pretty high up, so I could only see her head from time to time. Finally the time arrived when she went across the stage shaking hands. Sorry to say, with me being short that she passed by me, but she did shake my friends' hand which made me happy. I had caught an interview Friday on 94.7 FM where the DJ said that he had saw her at a Bed, Bath & Beyond store in Phoenix. She had laughed & said that she always shops there. I brought a coupon from there that I had got in the mail and wrote a little note on it. My friend gave it to the stage hand who was holding all her flowers and looked like he was about to fall overboard! I know that Ms. Nicks doesn't need a coupon to go shopping, but I was hoping that she got a laugh out of it anyway! We hung out at the stage for the final two songs. Vanessa did come out to help sing back-up vocals on Rock n' Roll, so at least we got to see her briefly. All in all, it was a memorable evening which definately ended too soon. I hope that she makes it to Merriweather in Columbia, MD. Thank you Stevie. You are truly an amazing, beautiful & talented woman!!
Lisa Adkins I have seen Stevie a number of times , This was the best performance I have seen. She was in rare form sunday night. She is the best performer ever. I cant wait till the next concert. I am a faithful Stevie fan since1977.
Chris J. Elardo As a big Fleetwood Man fan, and a bigger Stevie Nicks fan, I was looking forward to the concert prior to arriving. What I got was an amazing two hours of Stevie’s solo material, and timeless classics from the Mac days.
Simply put, the woman rocks!!
Classics such as Gold Dust Woman, Stand Back, Edge of 17, and Rhiannon brought the crowd to its feet. Ballads like Landslide, Beauty and the Beast, and Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You (which she dedicated to the soldiers of the Iraq War, who Stevie visited at Frances Reed Hospital a few days before the show) were mixed in. Stevie didn’t miss a beat. She sounded as good as ever, and her energy level was tremendous. A perfect example was the first song of her encore—a cover of Led Zeppelin’s Rock & Roll. It capped a tremendous evening of classic rock!!
Stevie’s band is very underrated. Waddy on guitar and vocals is the glue that holds the band together, Taco on percussion, and Bernard on the piano were among the highlights. She definitely surrounded herself with excellent musicians for the tour.
All I have to say is, “when is the next album due?”
Because a tour would shortly follow...and I’ll be there.
Scotty G. Phenomenal! Best solo show I've ever seen and best vocals I've heard since
the 97' Mac Reunion. Appeared to be the largest crowd at Nissan for a solo
stop. Stevie just waltzed on stage with the band and they kicked things off
with Enchanted for a change. Stop Draggin' My Heart Around, Outside the
Rain, Rhiannon, Gold Dust Woman, Circle Dance, and Fall From Grace were all
powerful and Stevie didn't hold back on much of anything. Stand Back got a
HUGE response...biggest of the evening...everyone was seemingly on their
feet. I hadn't heard Beauty and the Beast live before and she nailed it
with power and grace. I'm half her age and I don't know how she does it.
Just a beautiful night at a beautiful venue. Vanessa Carlton was a fabulous
opening act (funny and irreverent). You didn't even notice that it was just
her at the piano and nothing else. Thank you Stevie for a absolutely
wonderful evening! No one has fans like Stevie Nicks fans and no rock n'
roll lady is adored more than you! Don't ever go away!!!
Andrew Roberts It's the morning after the Stevie concert at Nissan Pavilion in Washington, DC, and, as has been the case since the first time I saw Stevie in 1978, the morning after is like a glorious, feel-good hangover. Stevie was in top form last night--vocally, charismatically, and physically. I've seen her live through all the stages of her life, and I can honestly say that I think she is in the best form ever! I went to the show with my partner, Andrew, who I have slowly been converting to Stevieism over the years we have been together, and he always serves as the barometer for any FM/Stevie shows we attend. Of course, I have no objectivity just because I love her so much. But after the show, when Andrew said it was awesome, then it must have been!
We had great seats--10 rows back--and next to us sat a woman with her 19 year-old daughter who has been enamored with Stevie since she was old enough to walk. How cool that Stevie's music transcends the generations!
So Stevie took the stage and wowed everyone. The music and the band--as always--were primo, and I always love hearing the classics, plus the two new selections by Bonnie Raitt and the Led Zep "Rock and Roll" cover.
But I'm always more interested in what Stevie has to say. I'm thrilled that over the past several years, she's been a bit more forthcoming about her personal life. For me, her life story is like a parable that I have taken many lessons from. Let's face it, the woamn has seen and done it all.
Turns out, she spent the day on Friday visiting US troops injured in the war in Iraq at Walter Reed Hospital in DC, and you could tell it moved her to tears. "I went in a single women with no children--fairly care free--and came out a changed person: a mother, a sister, a daughter, a patient advocate." And then she dedicated "Has Anyone Ever Written Anything for You?", changing the last lines of the song to "They ARE legends..."
She described Landslide as a song that is like a cat with nine lives: it keeps coming back, no matter how much you think it's gone for good. Very funny...
During band introductions, when she came to Carlos, she said, "As you all know, for many years, I was not well, and Carlos made sure that I made it on stage every night..."
Musical highlights of the evening included "Beauty and the Beast", which I haven't heard her perform since 1983's Wild Heart Tour. "Stand Back" always rocks the house. And her impassioned and possessed version of "Gold Dust Woman" just threw me for a loop.
So after he show, we hopped back in the car and drove the three hours through the dark Virginia night to our home in Norfolk. I told Andrew on the way home, "Well, now I have my Stevie fix for another three or four years." He said, "I hope it's not that long before we see her again."
I think I have another convert....
Sherry I have been going to Nicks concerts since 1981....and I would have to say that the show at Nissan was one of the best shows I have ever seen. She smiled and seemed like she was really having fun. Her sound was great and I totally enjoyed myself.....Thank you so much
Jeffrey OK. I must say I am still reeling. Stevie seems to be getting some
second wind in her life. The artist seems to be totally reborn - or
perhaps it's renaissance of sorts. I have seen her in each tour (both
FM and solo) since the Dance and I have to say (last FM tour included)
I have never seen her in such form...! It is redundant to say that her
voice is as strong as ever, but what I am most impressed with, and
thus still moved by, was her investment in each song from an
interpretive and physical performance...and artistic investment. I
have NEVER seen her be so complete and lost in her own music, inspired
to move and interpret each song and lyric with gestures and closed
eyes. It was truly moving. Both Has Anyone Ever Written... and Beauty
and the Beast were definitive performances to say the least. Gold Dust
Woman has never rocked liked this...two set of spins during Stand
Back...and the dramatic/cinematic poses taken during Beauty and the
Beast...
If she has ever thought about documenting on DVD her solo performances
of recent years THIS is the tour she need to get on tape. She is in
her prime as both a Rock and Roll Queen and an artist in performance.
(Plus she reached down and grabbed my forearm and held onto it as
support for about 10-15 seconds while she reached out to touch those
around me during Edge of Seventeen. It was amazing. She would not let
go!!!)
Tia Hudgins I took my 12yr old daughter, her best friend and my best friend to the concert last night in Bristow, Virginia. This was the first concert that the girls had ever been to and we drove 4 hours to get there! It was worth it! Stevie was AWESOME!!! We all had a wonderful time. Stevie's talent, voice, and stage presence remain just as strong and captivating as the first time I saw her MANY years ago. We also all enjoyed Vanessa Carlton's opening performance. I know she has 2 new little girl fans who will follow her career now!!! Everything about both artist's performance was flawless and beautiful. Thank you both for sharing your music, soul, heart and journey with us!
However, we were a little disappointed with the venue. The prices were outrageous! When we arrived it was 84 degrees, still and hot. Water was being sold at $4 a bottle!!! YIKES!!! That would be $12 for me to buy WATER!!!! The t-shirts were lovely, but again way over-priced at $35 each, for my party of people that would total $140. Maybe I am just old or cheap, but after buying the tickets, and driving 4 hours (each way), it was just shocking to see everything so overpriced. The parking staff did a wonderful job when everyone was entering the parking lot before the show, but where were they when it was time to leave and people were driving every which-a-way with no direction of where to go?
Donna All I can say is MAGICAL. I took my 15 year old son with me to the concert and it was truly a
magical evening. I could not remain in my seat period. The
connection Stevie made with the audience (and definitely myself) was
energizing. She shared about visiting Walter Reed Hospital on Friday
and filled the need of those she visited as a "sister, daughter,
wife, mother, friend". She is such an inspiration to me and it was
truly awesome to experience connecting with her live. My son was
totally blown away when Stevie kicked out a Led Zepplin tune. We
missed her "Beautiful Child" song, my son's favorite. Several times
during the performance I leaned over to my son and said "now this is
rock and roll buddy". He agreed.
For you Stevie. I want to thank you for a wonderful evening. I was
sitting by your light crew and could not stay in my seat. It was
totally awesome to connect with your energy. You are a wonderful
person and I feel like you are one of my very dear old friends. Your
music has gotten me through a lot of stuff in my life to. I brought
my 15 year old son with me who was totally blow away when you played
one of his favorite Zepplin tunes. He has my love of music. My son
really wanted to hear "Beautiful Child" but we cranked it when we got
to the car to go home.
Thanks for sharing your visit to the Walter Reed Hospital on Friday.
Like you said, if anyone could even go visit with some homemade
cookies, spread the love around. Hopefully our society will catch on
with all of the lightworkers spreading the healing energy.
Peace Love & Blessings!
Gayle Rickert STEVIE, STEVIE , STEVIE!!!!!!
Can I find the words to describe being at this concert?
Stevie evokes magic from the depths of us all!!! She takes us back in time and keeps us present in each and every moment with her "presence" that totally enthralls and captivates us throughout the entire performance-
What an amazingly magical night for all of us fans it was at the Nissan Pavillion!! Stevie positively ROCKED! She was full of such abundant power and energy and looked totally AWESOME. She kept us spellbound throughout her entire performance, absolutely at her BEST!!!! Twirling and kicking to the likes of what we thrill to see her do with such strength and energy - you could literally FEEL how much she was enjoying being up there doing what she does the best- JUST BEING STEVIE!!! Having been to many, many concerts of hers, and of Fleetwood Mac's over the last three decades ( I've been a dedicated fan since I was 15) - all I can say is , if you have a chance to go to see her GOLD DUST TOUR- DO IT!!! if you don't have tickets yet, GET THEM !!! She was ( and is always, timelessly ) totally amazing! All of her songs were flawlessly delivered and oh, so very animated !!! We just went WILD with DELIGHT! The "special effects" were indeed that- very SPECIAL!!!, and so totally Stevie!! She took a couple of minutes of the show to talk about her visit to Walter Reed Hospital, and how visting our troops personally, totally, "opened her eyes, to so much more of what so many of us do not see- she encouraged us all to be supportive of our troops- to take a tray of cookies- or do whatever you can do, to let them all know that we realize what they have sacrificed for us- oh my gosh- it was an awesome lead in to dedicating the very special " Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You" - to our troops- it was all so very touching-
Through every song, Enchanted, Outside the Rain, Rhiannon, Sorcerer, Landslide , which she and the band decided , she said was like a "cat" that keeps coming back- --we just were all so enveloped in her magic- she was just really "into it" and we were all transfixed!! ------ Circle Dance, Beauty and the Beast, Standback- Gold Dust Woman, Fall From Grace, Rock and Roll, ----- she mixed the old favorites with some new twists, and we loved every single second of it!!! As with all of sharing these special moments with Stevie and her band- which I have to say too, was ROCKIN the entire night-was Electrifying- you just never want it to end!!!!!
This concert, in particular, was a super special one for me, personally, because I finally made it ---all the way up to the stage during "the Edge" and was able to give Stevie two beautiful, long, multi-colored , multi-faceted, genuine , Austrian crystal beaded "necklaces"- -- i can only relate that it was like time was standing still- - At first, even though I was "right there standing under her" she didn't quite see me and the necklaces I was trying to give to her ( its' really , really crazy and crowded and loud and everybody is flipping out to be so close to Stevie)- I just yelled' Stevie, please, you have to have these" - and, suddenly, in an instant she was back!! All of a sudden her hands held my hands and I was actually giving her the necklaces , and she was saying "thank you so much" , looking me straight in the eye, holding both of my hands in hers, and looking at the crystals and then back at me, saying thank you so very much !! Oh, my goodness, All I could scream was THANK YOU STEVIE!!!!! - How, in an instant, can you thank someone who has saved your SELF, your LIFE , and your SOUL- in an instant, over and over again ----- I hope I (we) did that for you, Stevie, because, you have done just that, not just for me, I know, but for SO MANY!!!! You are a timeless inspiration and have given us such a gift - of you- your SELF. Your songs and words DO mean SO MUCH!- THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!
and to, Vanessa Carlton she was TREMENDOUSLY awesome. I can certainly understand why Stevie invited her to open for her tour. --If you somehow can read this Vanessa, WE LOVE YOU TOO!!!! and you have been taken under the Original White-Winged Dove's "Wing"-------How awesome is that? I think your songs are terrific, and your presentation and comfort with the audience is stunning- Your music is great, and we'll keep looking out for you!!!! Keep on Rockin!!! You've definately got "it"......
Thank you Again Stevie, for yet ANOTHER magical night- I look forward to the next one, and the next one....... and the next one........ and, Stevie, thank you especially, for being so totally real for all of us, for all of these years------and thank you for accepting my gift to you........
We love you so much!!!-- hugs and kisses to you always- and all ways- you are a blessing to the world........ and we would do it ALL FOR YOU.
Stacey Lindblad I have seen Stevie in concert more than a half a dozen times and by far, this was the best! AMAZING sums up this concert! She was lovelier than ever and rocked out keeping the fans energized to the end! Her performance was flawless and she has surrounded herself with some of the most talented musicians to create this perfect fit, putting on a perfect performance. Stevie’s better than ever performance keeps old fans like me wanting more Stevie and shows the new younger fans what Rock-n-Roll is all about! I have never been disappointed in any performance of Stevie’s, but this particular concert blew me away! Thanks for the awesome show Stevie, you truly are a legend and I hope you keep rockin’ for a long time…WE LOVE YOU!!!
Mike Sarzo Stevie Nicks travelled to the Nissan Pavilion in Bristow, Virginia as
part of her Gold Dust tour Sunday night. The show was not designed to
support any particular album, so the show was marked mostly a
collection of hits, crowd favorites, and chestnuts, but Nicks packed a
strong punch into the show.
Nicks opened the show with "Enchanted," a song off The Wild Heart that
she debuted on the tour to support her boxed set in 1998. She has
played it in both her solo tours since. Her most recent solo album,
Trouble in Shangri-la was also represented by "Sorcerer," the song that
had its roots in the pre-Fleetwood Mac days and later appeared on the
Chariots of Fire soundtrack sung by Marilyn Martin, and "Fall From
Grace," which proved to the world at the 2001 Blockbuster Awards that
Nicks could still rock.
For once, however, "Fall From Grace," as searing as it was, wasn't the
highlight of the show. Those honors were shared by Nicks's cover of the
Led Zeppelin classic "Rock And Roll" for which Nicks performs in pants
for the first time on this tour and wears the same hat she wore for
"Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You" on the TISL tour, and "Stand
Back," with the video montage showing Nicks's trademark twirls from the
Live in Boston video, sometimes sped up in a computer animation. Nicks
then thrilled the crowd at Nissan by doing approximately 10 twirls at
the same speed as on the Live in Boston video two separate times during
the song. The bridge, where she did the twirls on the Say You Will
tour, and later during the musical coda before the song closed. She
also added a leg kick during the end of "Stand Back" and one before the
band played "Rock And Roll."
Instead of her one.org dedication of "Has Anyone Ever Written Anything
For You," she recounted her visit to the troops who were hospitalized
at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, and implored the crowd to do
whatever they could for the troops. Nicks avoided the political
discussion of the war that other artists plowed head on into, but her
dedication hit the right notes. For "Landslide," the video showed
pictures of Nicks, from baby and child photos to video and photos of
her earlier days, including scenes with Fleetwood Mac. Nicks also
closed the show with a captivating performance of "Beauty And The
Beast" with scenes from the movie on the video board behind the band.
While some reviews have stated that Nicks looked tired, she performed
with higher energy than anyone would have a right to expect from a 57
year old and certainly does not look the part of a woman pushing 60.
Brady Well, once again I'm still buzzing from Stevie's show a few nights ago in Bristow, VA. I caught Stevie with Don Henley on June 8 in Mansfield MA which was an amazing show to say the least. But once I discovered that she was doing another month on the road on her own (with the lovely and talented Vanessa Carlton), I immediately bought two tickets for a friend and myself as well as two airline tickets from Boston to DC.......WORTH EVERY CENT! We scored 8th row dead center for the well-packed arena. Needless to say I was in complete euphoria the entire show. Stevie came out and started the show with "Enchanted", then just had the audience eating out of her hand (as usual) for the entire show. She looked and sounded fantastic. I could not believe how she out sang herself for the majority of the set, especially considering that it was up around 90 degrees and very humid that night. She completely belted out all of the higher notes and held them to the point of chills. She told a very touching story of how a few days earlier she visited soldiers in the hospital that had just returned home. She said she left the hospital a mother, a wife, and a sister......then proceeded to dedicate a tear inducing rendition of "Has anyone ever written anything for you". That, as well as her cover of "Rock and roll", and, but of course, "Beauty and the beast" that vocally was 10 times stronger than it was when she recorded it in '83! Even my friend was completely knocked out by the entire performance. All the way back to DC in the car he could not get over that this goddess at 57 sounds better than she did 20 years ago! Needless to say Stevie has been taking great care of herself for quite some time now and it shows in every way. God bless you Stevie and thank you once again for another night of pure bliss......
Jen Stevie was just amazing on Sunday night! She looked beautiful, her voice was in top form, she was full of energy and her enjoyment on stage was easily shared with us in our seats. The visuals on screen brought back some great memories. My first Stevie concert was in 1975 .......I feel so lucky that I've been able to rock with her for 30 years. Thank you Stevie - thank you for loving what you do and sharing it with us!
Geanine I have never been so lucky to have fourth row seats! Stevie was more beautiful in person! My mom and I went and just had the best time! The show was GREAT! She was GREAT! Being so close WAS GREAT! Thank you Stevie for being you! I love your music! It brightens my days. WE LOVE YOU!
Russ Melanson I purchased 2 Orchestra seats for my wife and her friend. My wife does a
Stevie Nicks Tribute and therefore I tend to get "Stevie Nicks Overkill" in
my life. She convinced me to buy two more seats so I could go with my
daughter. These seats were in section 101. Back in 1998 I attended a Stevie
concert and was not impressed at all. I have been a professional musician
all my life and tend to be very critical. However, last night was a
spectacular show. Stevie's vocals were powerful and clear. She was happy
throughout the show and looked very beautiful. In 98 Waddy was absent from
the stage, it was obvious last night that he has a huge impact on the
overall tightness of the band as well as Stevie as a performer.
I have to say...I had a great time, was very impressed with all the
musicians and thought Stevie really rocked.
My 12 year old daughter gave her roses and Stevie Reached down and shook her
hand. Not a bad experience for a 12 year olds first concert! Vanessa Carlton
looked great and musically performed flawlessly. She could have done less
talking (especially political views) and more singing and it would have been
better. Vanessa came out to sing back up with Sharon and Janna on Stevie's
rendition of Zeppelins Rock n Roll. It was obvious that she was nervous and
looked out of place without the piano as a crutch (Then again, what young
upcoming performer wouldn't be nervous performing with Miss Nicks).
What I liked most about the show, was the old feeling of the classic Rock
Concerts from the seventies. Waddy's raunchy (and sometimes not so perfect)
guitar style and Brett Tuggles Searing Hammond B3 Organ (passing through an
old Leslie cabinet) leant itself to putting forth that old classic Rock
sound.
Whether you are a Diehard Stevie fan, or new to her music, DO NOT miss this
tour. When an artist and band are clicking like last night...it is a no miss
situation. I'm glad I was there!
Mimi One of my closest friends and I attended the show last night in Bristow VA.
I am sitting here trying to find the correct words that even come close
to what last night really felt like. From the first time Stevie stepped on
stage and before she sang one note, I could tell that this was going to be
something more than I have seen from her before. She was already dancing
on stage before she started in on Enchanted and had such a huge smile on
her face. She was just so "on" last night as was the band and Sharon and
Jana. She was care-free, relaxed, enjoying every minute of what she was
doing and of what we, the fans, were sending back to her. Maybe she was
transformed a little because of the story that she told of what she did
Friday night. Before she did HAS ANYONE WRITTEN ANYTHING FOR YOU- she
wanted to make a special dedication. She had visited Walter Reed Army
Hospital in D.C. and was a changed woman. In as close to her words that I
can remember, she said that she went in as a single, pretty much care-free
woman, just going about her day doing whatever she wants, but came out as a
sister, a wife, a mother, a daughter, with only half her love and half her
heart because she left the rest inside with the wounded soldiers to keep.
She said that none of us who are not directly connected to a soldier will
ever really know the sacrifice that they give for us. She urged anyone
with any time, any pennies, any cookies, any letters to visit the soldiers
or to send them a care package. I don't know how Stevie stayed composed
during her talk because it was very emotional for anyone to hear the story
she told. When she sang the song, it had more emotion put into it than I
ever heard her sing it. It already has very deep emotional ties for me and
helped me in ways that can never be measured. So when everyone else sat
down for that song and I was standing -pretty much alone- I was standing
not only for the soldiers but also for Stevie and what that song has done
and will always do for me. That moment during that song will be something
that I never forget. The rest of the show was just amazing. I know that
all of the reviews from fans say that the show they just went to was the
best that they had seen even if they have seen her for 20+ years but it is
absolutely true from what I saw last night. My friend had never seen
Stevie before and I told her a few times through the show that she was
getting a real treat tonight. Stevie was actually jumping up and down on
stage!! The best way I can describe it would be if you were 18 and in your
first band and you were on your first tour and it was sold out- you would
be so giddy with excitement and energy. She was really acting like a kid
and I guess that is what it is all about. She truly is fulfilling her
passion and thank God that we get to witness it. Maybe Vanessa Carlton
summed it up best when she was finishing up her set. She said that it was
truly an honor to tour with Stevie because of her fans. They are
one-of-a-kind because they really do appreciate good music from
singer/songwriters no matter if the songs are a hit or not. They love it
just because it is good music. Amen Vanessa. THANK YOU STEVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
