Stephan Gilbert I have to say that Stevie Nicks is my absolute favorite performer and tonights performance was nothing less than amazing. I have seen Stevie for her Rooms on Fire Tour, Her Enchanted (box set tour) and for TISL. All shows were great, but this performance was her all tme best. It really seemed that Stevie put more emotion and charisma into the show. I have never been close enough for the front row, but one day I will! The all time highpoint of the evening was her Encore performance of Beauty and the Beast--my favorite Stevie Song! I recently just loss my 37 year old cousin to cancer and that song brought out a lot of emotions that night. It was a truly beautiful performance (one which should be released on video). I would give Stevie a Grammy for that performance! Stevie has had a difficult time over the years and I will have to say she has still got what it takes to be a fine superstar! If I had one last wish while on this earth, it would be to sit with Stevie for 1/2 and hour to tell her how much her music enriches my life. For those readers who have never seen Stevie perform, you MUST MAKE IT A PRIORITY! Kudos to Stevie and her awesome band for a great evening!
Craig Lea I've seen Stevie 5 times with the Mac and 7 times on her own. Her connection to the audience is always more personable when she's with her solo band. She's more of the little sister when with FM which brings a spontaneity and exhuberance not so easy with the weight of the show only on her. In this show she started out appearing to just go through the motions. The first couple of songs were performed well but it was in business mode. I noticed around the time of Gold Dust Woman the crowd and Stevie getting comfy. She started sharing about her life, bringing in intimacy and the room suddenly stopped being 6000 people but more of a small private party. It's a shared bond. The audience spontaneously shouts expressions of love and Stevie tears up and her voice quivers with personal words. Her fans go to see her, be with her and walk away feeling they shared the evening with a close friend.
Bread Tyson Now im only 16 years old, but i still aprieciate good music and i have to say stevie and fleetwood are gooooood music. This Show was absolutly amazing, Her voice was absolutly amazing and absolutly flawless. She didnt miss one note. I was up dancing the entire concert, Stevie was just absolutly amazing through every song. The concert made me a bigger fan then i was and now i have to say im a nicksomaniac. o yea and stevie is hott!
Heidi Jacobs Last night Stevie was the best I've ever seen her. Beautiful as ever, she deprived us of nothing. Her voice was strong and pure, she twirled for us several times, and absolutely ROCKED! We could see she was enjoying herself to the fullest onstage in front of an adoring audience who hung on her every word! Her band was wonderfully energetic and supportive...I enjoyed the song arrangements immensely. I loved the intro Waddy did for "Edge of Seventeen!" My favorite number was "Beauty and the Beast" where Stevie displayed her theatrical flair, emotional intensity, and breathtaking, soaring vocals. I hope to see a lot more of her in the years to come!
John Seger Tonight's Stevie Nicks concert was something extra special.
I have seen her over 30 times through many tours, and something extra
magical was on hand for this show.
Her voice sounded amazingly strong and full of wavering emotion.
Her animated stage presence was even more powerful tonight.
Stevie was a "live wire" and wiggled around even during slow tunes.
She looked happy, healthy and full of energy.
She gave us amazing twirls during "Stand Back," not just during the
guitar solo in the middle, but again at the end of the song after she
gave her famous high kick.
Her cover of "Circle dance" was breathtaking.
And the Led Zepplin cover of "Rock and roll" burned a hole through the
stage!
As usual, she wowed the fans with her gorgeous costumes.
Throughout the evening, various fans all over the audience screamed "I
love you Stevie," and other wonderful gushings.
The choice of songs were fantastic!
Stevie has so many hits, we cannot expect her to play all of them. I
enjoy hearing her album cuts instead of just radio hits anyhow...
It was a wonderful show, and I enjoyed it so very very much.
Vanessa Carton was ok, but what threw me is I read on these reviews that
in the middle of a song last week or so, during another show, she messed
up, stopped playing and said, "I messed up my own song!"
Well, she did it tonight, and it was exactly as how the others had
described it, so it seemed it was part of her act, or perhaps she got a
good reaction from the crowd, thinking it was cute, so she did it again.
I thought it was a bit lame to milk that.
I was enjoying Vanessa's show until she re-enacted that little bit...
In conclusion, Stevie Nicks, more than satisfied the sold-out crowd, and
gave one of the best solo performances I have seen her give. I do wish
they'd release a dvd of this tour.
It's just so very very special...
It just doesn't get better than this.
Stevie Nicks is still the Queen of Rock and Roll.
And still one of the most beautiful women that has ever lived.
A true icon.
Ken The first concert I ever saw was FMac in 1978. I
thought I had died and gone to heaven and was
completely captivated by Stevie. Then I saw Stevie
again, solo, in the mid 80's. By her own admission,
she was really a wreck - her voice was so shot that
she had to "talk" many of the vocals. So I can't tell
you how thrilled I was to hear her now! Her voice was
truly stunning - so powerful, so clear, so rich and
beautiful. And so unique. It made me proud again to
be a fan. The crowd was also so into it - standing
from the opening notes. I think she got a real charge
out of that. Highlight of the show had to be Beauty &
the Beast. I never thought she could top the power
and emotion of the record, but she hit every note with
such force. You could have heard a pin drop. I think
the audience was in complete awe of her talent. And
watching her - in pants - rocking out to Zeppelin was
a real treat. She was having a blast and it showed.
Ronny K. Marshall She started the show with "Enchanted" which was from her "Wild Heart" album. It's a real up beat rock number. She looked fantastic in her signature flowing black skirts and lace shawl.
Guess what?? NO PLATFORM BOOTS!! I was shocked. I guess Stevie figures .... I'm 57 and I want some comfy shoes when I twirl Speaking of 57, she does not look it. Her hair is still blond, not big and teased like in the 80's but long and frames her face beautifully.
The second song was "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" w/ her lead guitarist Waddy Watel taking the Tom Petty part.
She sang "Outside the Rain" and then moved into "Dreams". That first song is basically the sequel to "Dreams" and Stevie always sings those two songs together.
Stevie left the stage for a quick costume change while the fella playing the grand piano played this long and beautiful solo that slowly became "Rhianon". As Stevie walked back out on stage the crowd was on it's feet (again). I love how she performs this song now. It starts out slow with the piano and then into the original rock number. This was one of the loudest ovations of the night.
She followed up with "Sorcerer" and then off the stage for another quick change while this FANTASTIC percussionist kicked major ass with the intro to "Stand Back". This song is always a show stopper. Only complaint I have was the lack of movement by the back up singers. Honey, they need me to teach them a few ala Supreme movements, at least on this song. The whole place was on their feet again dancing our butts off. Another HUGE loud ovation.
What can I say about "Landslide"? That is my all time favorite Stevie Nicks song. As she sang they showed pictures of Stevie as a little girl, a teenager and clips from her performances over the years. Her two backup singers are wonderful. They blend beautifully with Stevie on this song. Stevie has probably sang this song 1000's of times, but she still shows such emotion when she sings "Times made you bolder, children get older and I getting older too". Plus for us long time fans we understand that and I'm so glad given all she's been through she's still here to sing about it.
I won't go through the whole set. But stand outs for me were:
"Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You". My friend Tina and I were tearing up at this point.
"Circle Dance" (Bonnie Raitt Cover), which I hope Stevie records.
"Edge of Seventeen", which is really cool because Stevie walks around the edge of the stage and shakes hands with fans. DAMN! I have to get front row seats one day.
"Rock And Roll" (Led Zeppelin Cover), this was fantastic. They were flashing some 1960-ish colorful graphics and Stevie and decked out in ........ PANTS!! Yes, Miss Stevie had on some kick ass bell bottoms and a funky hat ala Janis Joplin. Vanessa Carlton (opening act) joined the back up singers on this number.
The final song was beautiful. "Beauty & the Beast". Stevie came back on stage with her hair pulled up wearing a beautiful black dress with a fur (could be fake so don't get a PETA fit going) collared jacket. Behind her on the video screen was clips from the old B&W film of the same name. I can't get over how powerful her voice has become over the years. I had chills when she sang this. She hasn't done this song in years, I'm glad she's added it again.
One last bow and it was all over.
Needless to say, I've been on a Stevie high all day!!!
Thanks again Stevie, it was great to have you back home at least for one night.
Mark and Kathie Great show last night. My wife and I both enjoyed Stevie. I could have done without the opening act, Vanessa (who)? Sorry, just don't know who she is. She actually could have just sung 2 or 3 songs at the most because I found that most of her songs all had the same sound.
Sandy Lopez MY NAME IS SANDY LOPEZ AND I AND A FRIEND, LOREEN KING ATTENDED THE LOS ANGELES CONCERT AT UNIVERSAL. WE HAD NOT SEEN EACH OTHER FOR AT LEAST 6 YEARS BUT HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT ONLY MY PHONE AND EMAIL. THIS WAS A GIRLS NIGHT OUT ( NO HUSBANDS) WE HAD THE BEST TIME. I LOVED IT SO MUCH, I BOUGHT TICKETS FOR THE LAS VEGAS CONCERT, AUGUST 6TH. THIS TIME I AM TAKING MY HUSBAND, WHO I KNOW REALLY WANTED TO GO LAST NIGHT. I LOVE STEVIE AND WANTED HER TO KNOW WHAT A GREAT TIME WE HAD. I WILL REMEMBER THAT NIGHT FOREVER. SHE REALLY KICKED ASS ON "BEAUTY AND THE BEAST" (MY FAVORITE, I HAD GOOSE BUMPS) I KNOW MY HUSBAND WILL REALLY ENJOY THE NEXT SHOW. HE ALMOST NAMED OUR LAST CHILD AFTER HER. MY "SON" DAVID KNOWS HE WAS ALMOST CALLED STEVIE. ONCE AGAIN, HAD A GREAT TIME, LOVED IT. THANK YOU STEVIE.
Patrick I attended the Stevie Nicks concert last night at the Gibson theater ( Formally Universal Amphitheater). The show opened with Vanessa Carlton. What a cutie she is. I have only seen one of her videos and have only heard one of her songs, so I was pleasantly surprised by her talent, her personality and her great wit! She was a good opening act. I will definitely go see her in concert.
This was my third time to see Stevie Nicks in Concert. I took my partner who is not as big a fan as I am and to be honest he really wasn't in to seeing her, but I promised him an extraordinary experience. I was confident that we would both be thrilled by the twirling and dancing that we love Stevie for, but after the first two songs it was apparent that wasn't going to be the Stevie we were getting. Don't get me wrong, I love Stevie and would see her if she was sitting on a park bench while singing, but it almost seemed as though she had something wrong with her right leg or foot. From where we were sitting it looked as though she had some sort of special shoe or maybe even a temporary cast on her right foot. When she did try to twirl or move across the stage she appeared to be having trouble. I could hear people all around me whispering about how she was moving. I kept waiting for her to stay at the microphone after the first few songs and tell us a story about how she hurt her ankle at the last show or something, but nothing. She did several costume changes and each time she came out I was waiting for the spiked boots to start dancing around the stage, but the more I looked the more it seemed as though she was wearing some sort of orthopedic shoe. So, to be honest I was a little disappointed that she was not able to move around the stage the way I have always seen her move, but it was a great show nevertheless. I hope nothing was wrong with her and if there was I commend her for pulling through like a trooper and making me glad I saw her once again. I left the show feeling happy and satisfied that once again I was able to hear and see the greatest rock star ( in my humble opinion) there is.
Frank Zito Well it's been over 10 years since I saw Stevie in any incarnation (solo or Fleetwood Mac) and the hype is REAL. She looks, sounds and is better than ever. My partner and I saw her last night at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles and it truly was a memorable occasion. I looked around the arena a few times to see if there were any empty seats and I never saw one.
Vanessa's opening set was pretty good. Impressive piano playing skills and decent voice. However, she is pulling the same stunt as in previous shows. She fakes a mental lapse on her lyrics in the middle of her most famous song. It's an obvious gimic to win over fans. It worked.
Stevie was great. What a professional. She didn't keep the crowd waiting for hours like some divas can. The band was amazing and the overall sounds quality was excellent. Stevie had tons of energy and kept the crowd mesmerized throughout. You simply cannot take your eyes off her for a moment.
It's also interested to note how her songs, especially her lyrics, held up decades later. That is the mark of a true poet.
Don't miss seeing this legend in person.
