Gwen Micham WOW! She did it Again! It only took 20 years and some 15 shows, but I finally handed Stevie a rose and said Thank you soo much! Stevie just smiled her smile and squeezed my hand. Stevie was having fun and sounded great once she got through Outside the Rain. Seemed a little bit of a struggle with the sound at the beginning but they worked it out and she was awesome. Of course Beauty and the Beast was a great delivery, but I have to say that it was so refreshing to experience a new approach and delivery of Rhiannon. I am the fan that always wants to hear the obscure songs like "If I were you" or "candlebright" but the delivery of Rhiannon made this night very very cool! That's why you have to go every time you can because you never know how unique of a show you will get. The duets with Don were also very special.
Isak L. This was my first time seeing Don Henley and seeing Stevie do her solo
songs, and I was DEFINITELY blown away. Stevie looked beautiful, even
younger than she did on the Say You Will tour. I was dancing all over the
place during Stand Back and Edge of Seventeen, and Waddy did such a
wonderful job playing that riff! He is amazing and I wasn't expecting him to
be at the show, what a pleasant surprise! The whole thing was really a class
act, I was so stunned by the beautiful pictures of Rhiannon and the footage
from the Beauty and the Beast film by Jean Cocteau. That was such a nice
touch, and Stevie's performance of that song was full of emotion. That was
probably the highlight of the show for me, because she totally lived up to
my expectations and brought such a life to that song. Her twirling on Stand
Back was also awesome, as always! Don was great too, it was nice that I
could see them do Leather and Lace together, as it was meant to be sung.
That put such a sweet touch to the end of that night and it ended it
perfectly. I was so amazed by this show, and I would just like to thank all
of the crew and Stevie and Don themselves for putting on such a great show
Saturday night!!
Jamie Tobin It was a great night for a show! The weather was beautiful, the crowd was happy! I bought my tickets from Iloveallaccess, so I did not know until I arrived where my seats would be. It turned out I was in the 4th row, center seat from the stage! I have never seen Don Henley live and I am a big fan of the Eagles and Don as a solo artist. I have seen Stevie several times solo and with Fleetwood Mac. I have been a loyal listener of Stevie since I was 3 years old in 1975.
A lady singer played a set before Don Henley came on. I thought she was very good and they were giving away free cds, but I couldn't find one. Soon after she left the stage, Don's band came out followed by Don himself. I believe the opening song was The Genie. Don was excellent! He talked to the crowd and mentioned the basketball game (Detroit Pistons). The fourth song was Hotel California, which was awesome! Stevie slowly came out onto the stage and the crowd went wild! She looked very pretty! Her hair was beautiful & I loved her outfit. Don teased her about the black fur around her neck and asked her if it was real. They were cute together! Stevie was great with Don on Hotel California. Stevie stayed on for the next song, A New York Minute, once again she supplied excellent vocals! She also stayed for The Last Worthless Evening and was pretty playful and animated with Don. The two were GREAT together! After that, Stevie left the stage but Don reassured us she'd be back! Other
highlights of Don's set included Boys of Summer, Desperado and Dirty Laundry (this rocked!). He was so great and put on a fantastic show. Thanks, Don!:)
After a short intermission Stevie came out and sang Outside the Rain & Dreams. Once again her outfit and her hair looked beautiful! I even noticed that her clothing designer made a mic pack/pouch out of the same material as her shirt. Very classy!
Her band was great and I was thrilled that Waddy (guitar player) was there! He and the rest of the band did a fabulous job, especially Sharon & Janna! (Stevie introduced her as My Sharona, and my friend's brother was the lead singer of that band from the Detroit area!) When Rhiannon came on they displayed various Sulamith Wulfing paintings in the background and it showed a horse running, which is one of the images I always thought when hearing this song as a child. Don came on for Stop Draggin' My Heart Around and stayed for a Bonnie Rait song called Circle Dancer. Stevie told us it was Bonnie Rait song and that she thinks it was written about Bonnie's father. It was an emotional duet and the words are very powerful. Don also sang on Gold Dust Women. Stevie wore her gold cape and the highlite was at the end of the song, when Stevie and Don slow danced! Also, Don was very proud of a cool shirt he wore, it was white with red roses on it.
Stand Back was cool and Stevie did her kick at the end! I have to say the most powerful song of her set was "Beauty & the Beast." Stevie came out in a beautiful black gown with a Queen Anne neckline and black satin gloves. Her hair was pinned up with a black hairpiece. She looked so elegant! The screen behind Stevie displayed the Jean Cocteau early French film about Beauty and the Beast I love this film! Stevie's vocals were absolutely incredible in this song and she displayed much emotion. I was blown away. The power of this performance is still with me as I type this 12 hours later! The combination of seeing the film images behind Stevie and her singing was so creatively thought-out and something everyone should see! Stevie has claimed in the past that this song is written for Mick Fleetwood and was actually recorded while in Dallas (Stevie stayed after a FM show because Mick's father died of cancer that night). It was originally recorded in Dallas at Gordon Perry's studio in
Dallas.
Stevie did a great job on Edge of Seventeen and I loved the white wing dove flying on the screen behind Stevie! As the music continued to play as the song ended, Stevie shook hand's with the people in the front row. I talked to people in the front row after the show and they said she was nice and beautiful. The show ended with Don & Stevie singing Leather & Lace. They did a wonderful job with this song! At the end, Stevie, Don & the band bowed for the audience. What a great show. Thank you Don & Stevie for a wonderful performance. Stevie never fails to put on a classy & elegant stage performance & it was one of the best concerts I have ever seen. Also, There is a pink shirt in which Stevie's art is displayed on. I bought one of these before the show and wore it around. I got A LOT of compliments on it. Even a lot of gentlemen said it was a COOL shirt and they asked me where I purchased it! Thanks STEVIE!!!
Also, I hope in the future she stays with the concept of having images displayed behind her. During the set, I even caught an image on the screen of her from the video "If Anyone Falls", where she is dancing with a man. You have to really look to see it. The video & picture images are a great idea and I love this! It really adds magic to the show! I will see her again front row & center back in my home town of Grand Rapids, Michigan Friday June 24, 2005. "I Can't Wait!"
James Bussell I was one of the 16 people who paid $375.00 for my ticket from I Love All Access. I was emotional from the get go, I didn't know were my seat was until it was given to me at 6:45pm that night. All I knew until 6:45 was that I would be in the first ten rows. Adrin gave me my package and said here is your seat, front row center. Adrin was assigned to me as my usher since they were aware of my heart condition and my being a diabetic as well as how huge of a Stevie fan I've been since 1975. She told me that she would check on me periodically during the show. Adrin knew were my seat was as she was the one who assigned me my seat, she wanted easy access to me incase they needed to call the EMTs down. Because every time I get near Stevie I faint.
I would like to start out by saying that I would NEVER EVER try to hurt Stevie or any member of FM. She reached down to take my hand and I fainted. As I got up she didn't look too upset but she mouthed to me 'Are you o.k.?' At this point I was still crying and the fans around me sat me in my seat. At this point Adrin came to me as she heard what had happened to me over the walkie talkies and she told them that I was her client and she would handle this as she knew I was an extremely huge fan and that I wasn't trying to hurt Stevie in anyway.
So she came to me and talked to me and told me what was happening. And told me to calm down some because my being so emotional was freaking Stevie out. Adrin told me that she told Stevie's assistants that I'm just a huge fan and passed out over Stevie being that close to me. I've never been that close to Stevie before in my life. I don't know what I’d do if I ever had the chance to meet her and get her autograph. At this point the people around me were also concerned about my heart condition. By the time Edge of Seventeen came around Adrin came back and told me you know she's going to walk along the edge of the stage. I will be with you for the rest of the show. As Stevie approached me Adrin had me all cuddled up, she knew it was going to be pretty bad. Stevie walked up to me and knelt down at this point. She could see I was very upset, crying and shaking Adrin is telling me to take it easy that she knew I was having chest pains at this point. Stevie pulled out her ear monitor and I told her I was sorry and that I loved her threw my tears. Stevie also looked like she was crying because I was so emotional. Stevie stood there for a few minutes, said I love you too as she took my hands between both of her hands. I feel that if Stevie would have felt that I was a threat that she would never have stopped here at this point to take my hands. I think that her bodyguard would have had her bypass me somehow if she would have felt that I was a threat to her.
So I'm sorry if anyone feels that I hurt Stevie. I'm just that huge of a fan that I love her and FM in the way I do. If you visit the nicksfix chat my name in there is Musicman and I've been chatting in her chatroom for years and everyone in there knows how much I love her and the band. My pic is on the Nicksfix polishing the FM star in Hollywood.
So there is the true story behind it all. I'm sure I'm leaving out something and when I remember I'll make sure to post it out here. By-the-way, I do have a knot on the back of my head from hitting it on the chairs.
Matt On what was in no way a dark desert evening, the voices of Don Henley
and Stevie Nicks came together. First hell freezes over... now this!
Easily the two best male/ female voices in music and a dream match-up
come true. The show ran true to the posted set list with Don coming on
stage to a half empty pavillion seating area. Entering the stage Don
requested a heavier jacket to go over one he was already wearing. The
evening was cold with dark clouds and blowing wind. Breaking into
"Witchy Woman" as the second song in was a clue for the gathering masses
to get seated and they did like a mad stampede. Stevie appreared early
on as the crowd was treated to "Hotel California". Not to date myself,
but mom sang that to me in the tub back in 1976 (No, she wasn't in there
with me you perv's). Don did a few more numbers together with Stevie
and they embraced in dance much to the delight of the crowd. People
stayed close to their seats as this was clearly a pro Stevie crowd with
the usual wanna be look-alikes dotting the concert landscape. A quick
intermission saw Stevie enter the stage as the crowd rose and roared.
Her voice never better, she treated the crowd to a sampling of her
entire career. Her second song into the set was "Dreams" which
encouraged a crowd sing along. Other stand outs included a scorching
version of "Rhiannon" along with a great group effort with Don on "Gold
Dust Woman". I love "Edge of Seventeen" and Waddy still does the best
open and close of anyone I have heard! Overall, it all ended too fast.
Nobody was leaving, all hoping for just one more song from music that is
the soundtrack to so many of our lives. I already know what I want
under the tree this Christmas...a DVD of this show! Stevie...I know you
are reading this...how about it and again thank you for an awesome and
magical Saturday night in Metro Detroit!
Dean Martelle It was overcast and unseasonably cool as Linda and I went to see Stevie and Don Henley at the DTE Music Theater. It was so cool that Don asked for jacket after Witchy Woman and Stevie was wearing shawls not just as stage dress but to keep warm! In spite of two minor setbacks the show was magnificent! Stevie and Don perform well together and there is an obvious bond between them.
Stevie is in great voice right now. She was a little raspy at end of the long Fleetwood Mac tour when I heard her last. I was concerned with this tour starting so soon, that her voice hadn’t had time to recover. I didn’t need to worry. Stevie looked relaxed, healthy and radiant. What ever she’s doing now to take care of herself I hope she keeps doing it. Stevies gift for harmony served her well singing Hotel California, New York Minute, and Last Worthless Evening from Dons’ set as well as Gold Dust Woman from her own. When Stevie sang the Eagles / Henley songs she sang them like she’d been doing it for years. She also had Don singing lead on Gold Dust Woman. Don lent a fine interpretation and unusual viewpoint to this Stevie Nicks standard. It was as if Stevie were making a point that she’s not the only one who can sing the songs she writes, and sing them well.
The high points of the show for we were First: the duets between Don Henley and Stevie. Those seven songs were just spine tingling. We’re not likely to hear those duets again anytime soon. Second: A version of Rhiannon that started with a slow piano version, and moved to a hard rocking power version. Third: We got twirls and a kick on Stand Back! Forth: The audience singing along with both Don and Stevie. Fifth: A new verse in Edge of Seventeen!
Linda also enjoyed the version of Rhiannon but the high point for her was Beauty and the Beast. (It’s Lindas favorite Stevie Nicks song.) This was done with the piano, the back up singers, and Stevie. She really put everything she had into it. I’m sad that the audience reaction wasn’t better.
The last encore song was dropped tonight probably due to the cool weather.
If you have any chance to see this show take it! It will long time before we seen Stevie Nicks and Don Henley performing on the same stage again.
Pam What a great show. Don Henley was very good. I was
unsure after reading some of the posts about a lack of
interaction with the audience. I didn't find that to
be the case at all.
Don walked out, and after performing "The Genie", said
to the crowd, "I've got to put on a coat!" much to the
amusement of the crowd, who were in shirt sleeves and
shorts. It was about 60 degrees..cloudy, but no rain,
just a cool breeze. He told a story about a friend
named Jay who had a place in northern Michigan, he was
funny and engaging the audience. He then launched into
"Witchy Woman," which started the mood for the Detroit
crowd. His band was very good, and Henley sounded
great. Stevie came out during Hotel California, and
brought everyone to their feet. I think the crowd was
split equally between Henley and Nicks fans, and some
of both.
Stevie was in a playful mood, it seemed, she smiled at
Henley a lot, and would look at him while he sang on
their duets. I could see there was a friendship there,
it was nice to see.
Stevie came out to Outside the rain, (with the
Bootylicious intro) looking fabulous as always, lots
fo smiles these days for the fans, WE LOVE YOU
STEVIE!!
I'm not going to bang out the setlist, 'cause you know
it already, but it was a fantastic show. The
percussionist from the last Fleetwood Mac tour was in
the band, Waddy of course, and other familiar faces. I
got down to the stage for the "Edge of Seventeen" fan
appreciation moment. Stevie shook my hand twice, once
going and once coming back...she's so nice to do that
for her fans. I truly adore her!!
Next week is Grand Rapids, my hometown!! We are the
first stop on the "Golddust" tour....I of course will
be there!! Got great seats for that show. I'm gonna
hold a "loved you in Vegas" banner, Stevie. You rock
the house. 25 years of music designed share a feeling
set to words..what a gift. Hope I meet you someday..
Sue Bradford Hello everyone......What a great show I saw last night at DTE....It was a little cloudy & chilly evening but it was AWESOME night!!! When I'd got to the show I first stopped at the merchandise ....had to see what stevie/don items I could get....and what a items they had...I first got the 'Leather & Lace' shirt (from the 45 pic sleeve)great ps...next I got the tisl pic of stevie w/the belladonna logo...than I got one don shirt of him in the woods --also great pic...next I got the belladonna logo shirt with dove....the gray hooded shirt/bear(cute)/mug/and both keychains-stevie's & don's......I wish there was a tourbook and buttons....anyway, after that I'd already missed some of Dons first song 'The Genie' from Inside Job......Don does a great job...and I've seen him perform solo (89/90/93/00) Eagles(94/95)....So besides being a Stevie fan (collector) I'm also a Don Henley fan (collector).....It was such a great ! night to see 2 of my favorite performers together on the same night at the same show.....I've seen some not so stellar reviews (esp of Don) for alot of these shows....(not talking to the audience) he did alittle bit with our crowd tonight and he does usually talk more but I'm sure both him and Stevie didn't have alot of time like they usually would if it was just them solo on tour....Stevie was great when she came out during Don's solo set with 'Hotel California' one of my all time favorite Eagles songs...and in her pants!....and it was nice to hear her doing something different song wise that is....a different take on some great songs (eagles/don solo stuff)....Stevies voice was strong all night. Don did have a couple of rough patches (guess he was right in a interview that all that touring for the eagles his voice is going some) but I thought he did just great for his set....Now Stevie was awesome all night....that had the 'dreams' remix (which did sound interesting!) before! Stevie came out to start her set....she had all black on (no platform boots though) her flatter boots....she shook someones hand at the front of the stage and they almost pulled her in the crowd with them.....Stevie had so much energy last night it was incredible....she seemed like she was having alot of fun on stage.....she's been great all the times I've seen her (since '94) but last night she was really, really into it.....at the start of the concert they had the opening clip of her breaking through the wall from the 'I Can't Wait' video....and during the night they had many things on the screen behind her....I know they had alittle bit of her dancing with Brad Jeffries from the 'If Anyone Falls ' video --that was during the song Enchanted than when she did this great version of 'Rhiannon' with her black , sparkly cape on.....it was just awesome.....probably one of the special highlights to me was when Stevie did
'Beauty & the Beast'.....Stevie was beautifully dressed in the velvet black gown with her hair up.....and the video clips of the movie that help inspire to write such a beautiful , touching song.....I started to cry at the end of it....I'm so happy I got to see her perform that song.....When Don came out for Gold Dust Woman.....that was another great song!! The slow dance at the end was just beautiful.....and special....I thought Don did a good job on 'Stop Draggin' with Stevie (of course Tom Petty would have always been better but..)I think he did good for it not really being his song and all...Circle Dance was different but nice and sweet....StandBack was great as always!! Stevie was dancing and twirling....she was throwing around her shawl(her black spotted one for standback)at Waddy (so great to have Waddy back for this tour again--he's wonderful)....she was being playful at that and at the end she did a high! leg kick in the air.....on Edge of 17.....Stevie didn't wear her usual white cape...but wore a beautiful appeared white dress? or whit shirt--beautiful chiffon , layered skirt(loved it!)....with a black long coat? it was great and at the end she was picking up flowers mostly....and shaking everyones hand and waving to the crowd.....the band was great and Don's band was great too.....at the end for the last song of the night Don came back out and they both sang 'Leather &
Lace' and that was very special to hear them both singing it together.....I'd always wanted to actually 'see' them singing this song together and now I finally have.....I wish everyone could've seen this show!! It was a special night and one I won't ever, ever forget!!! I guess it was too late at our concert for them to sing 'So You Want to Be a Rockin Roll Star' because it was a little after 11:00 and I guess that song had to be cut.....but either way it was just a wonderful, special evening all around.....Thank You So much Stevie and Don for doing so beautifully together & solo ....It was a very short tour for you both (together) and I so love seeing you both solo but this is a evening I won't ever forget......Stevie : what a great , great job.....Thank you, thank you, thank you....I am forever 'enchanted' ...." baby , please don't change....." & .." dreams unwind, loves a state of mind"...
...."Blame It on My Wild Heat....baby, baby...."......WOW, What a Night!!!!......
Chris I went and saw her show in Detroit and i thought her performance was awesome. Stevie has such a great voice, and moves were great too. I would definately go and see her again if she came around. I have been a fan for 20 something years now and will always listen to her music...from your #1 fan.
