Debra Covert While I will always love "My Stevie", I walked away from this concert feeling slightly cheated. I so wanted to hear more. I can appreciate her wanting to perform Led Zeppelin and Bonnie Raitt songs, however, I would have preferred to hear more of Stevie's songs. I didn't pay to see them because they aren't my favorites. I came to see Stevie sing Stevie songs! Whatever happened to "Talk To Me", "Gypsy", "Sisters Of The Moon"...??? Those are classic Stevie songs and what I so wanted to hear! Plus, Yeah I know she's 57 years old but come on....It was almost as though she was like...Here I am and I'm tired so I'm not going to give it my all! She hardly danced at all! And, oh....sorry folks and Stevie but Beauty and the Beast? Too cheesy for words! The song is beautiful but the costume and the movie on the screen was a bit much. Not sure if you show the movie to keep people from looking at that weird get up?
No one, and I mean no one loves Stevie more than me, but on a scale of 1-10 this concert performance was a 5 at best. I just kept feeling like something better was bound to happen and I just didn't get it. Yes she is beautiful and still amazing at 57. Those of you who claimed she lost weight from when she was here in 2003? She gained if anything. I was disappointed in that as I was lead to believe I would see a svelt Stevie. She was far more lively with Fleetwood Mac last fall at the DTE than she was on Friday. I hope she picks up the pace a little more as time goes on or I'm afraid many more will be disenchanted with her show. She simply needs to get into it a little more. Thanks for your time.
Sarah H. I sit here pondering what I could possibly write that hasn't already been said thousands of times before. Can't do it! So I will say this. Every moment that passes with Our Girl on stage is like PURE GOLD... Stevie is not only the orginator, but also the goddess and keeper to all women aspiring to ROCK! She has been, and shall remain the one constant inspiration that keeps me striving to make killer rock and roll. I am, as of yet, still pretty unfamous, but with Stevie to look upon and inspire me, I know that it just doesn't matter. She has this unbelievable talent of making you feel like your already on top! The whole show meant fireworks for me. I mean, when she started shaking her fans hands, I spontaneously burst into tears, realizing that my 6ft span could not pole vault to the stage in time to just say hey. Maybe next time! But probably not! Anyway, Stevie Girl, the show was absolutely phenomenal, and I wouldn't have missed it for the world!
I love the band that she has comprised, and what an excellent performance by Vanessa Carlton. I only remotely recognized her smash hit, but I was definitley impressed with everything she chose to play. So much power and "UM" :) confidence for such a young performer. She was very entertaining, so thanks again Stevie, for bringing her along for the ride. Rock On Sister Girl! See ya next time around the block!!! And when you get back on the mountain, if you feel like stepping into the "Way Way Back Machine," Look up Mike Hounshell, he's still right down the road, and tell him I said Hey! Great show Great vibes, and almost a week later, Great tingles when I think about it!!!!!!!!
Love Peace and Rock N Roll!
Devin After attending the Sevie/Don show @ DTE the weekend before so I was
truelly primed to see Stevie alone in my home town of Grand Rapids. I
wasn't disappointed! Wow! Stevie came out full force and didn't let
us down! I was mesmerized by "Rhiannon" and "Gold Dust Women." The
images on the screens behind the stage added another wonderful element
to the performances of those songs.... I was also so happy "Enchanted"
and "Sorcerer" made the cut as well! I attended with two good
friends who while they are seasoned concert goers, had never seen
Stevie perform live - One was brought to tears during the performance
of "Has Anyone Ever Written."
Loved the show!
Tom S. I attended Stevie's concert in Grand Rapids at the VanAndel Arena
and was so blown away by her performance.......It was everything and more that I
could have ever hoped a Stevie Nicks concert to be.
There was so much energy coming from her and her band it was incredible.
I felt like the arena was one big dance club and she was playing just for us. The Arena
seats 12,000 but for some reason this show seemed so intimate. I think it was all the
energy she gave out.
Since her tour started out in Grand Rapids - I think her and the band were just really
anxious to "show off" for us. And boy did they ever.
I had goosebumps when she was singing "Rhiannon" and my personal favorite..
"Stand Back". "Edge of Seventeen" brought the house down.!
I kept thinking the whole time that this concert should be filmed for a DVD or maybe
a live CD. Hint to Stevie :-) Would love to have you release a live CD of this tour!!
After the show was over...we headed outside behind the arena and were able to
talk to Sharon (a bunch of us called her over when she was walking to the bus)
she politely signed autographs for us and answered our questions... she said that Stevie
is currently writing new songs for a possible solo album. Lets hope. Also, her other
band members came over to to pose for photos and sign.
Also, Vanessa Carlton signed autographs for us too... she is really talented.
Her short set was very impressive. I am going to buy her last album.
Thanks Stevie for coming to G.R....come back again, anytime!
Al Vrhel Wow,what a night! A couple weeks earlier I had every one I knew trying to win tickets off the radio so me and my wife could attend the concert.Boy was I excited when on fathers day my daughter surprised me with two fifth row floor tickets! When the usher led us to our seats and we were so close to the stage I could not beleive it! I have been to one other Stevie Nicks concert in the 80's but I was so far back I could hardly see. Now I was so close I was just thrilled! Stevie looked and sounded fantastic! The show was totaly upbeat and full of energy.Stevie, please come back to Grand Rapids soon! I know next time I will be one of the lucky fans giving you a rose!
Belladonna Rentas After seeing Stevie last Friday in Tinley Park, I could not wait to see her opening in Grand Rapids, Mi. WHAT A SHOW !!!!!! Vanessa Carlton was fantastic, she too, is a big fan of Stevie's-her openess, and honesty in her music, reminds me of Stevie, in many ways. When Stevie took the stage, it was beyond words - she captivated her fans from beginning to end. Her rendition of "ROCK & ROLL" was "fan-kick-ass-tic" and "Beauty & The Beast brought tears to my eyes - she sang the hell out of all her songs that night. She mentioned she had a week off in our fantastic town of Grand Rapids for the last week - I thought that she would definately fly back to Arizona for the week she had off - I only wish I could have met Stevie while she was visiting in our great state. I can only say that the well deserved break that Stevie and her band had while resting in Grand Rapids, was a benefit to her fans because she opened like "WILDFIRE" !!! I sat down in Chicago during "STAND BACK" - I never sit during that song - in Grand Rapids, my friend Sandi and I danced & danced as Stevie sang & twirled round & round, as only Stevie can. I dont believe in fairy tales, but when I am there with Stevie or listening to her years of "storytelling" she makes fairy tales come true within me, those little fantasies make the dark moments seem brighter. Stevie will always be a part of my life. We are not fortunate to know Stevie personally, but through her words, music, concerts, and the love of her fans - she keeps going and going, from one tour onto another. I not only love Stevie's music, I appreciate her & the music that she has given to the world.
Bradley Bultman Stevie Nicks completely rocked Van Andel Arena.
Nicks came out strutting her untouchable legacy from the beginning of the show.
Nicks powerfully played Stop Dragging my Heart Around, Enchanted, Stand Back, and many others.
But by far the highlight of the night is when Nicks followed her band members’ 10 minute drum & guitar solos with Edge of Seventeen.
Despite the dozens and dozens of concerts I’ve seen so far, I have never seen a song played better live then when Nicks plays Edge of Seventeen as she extends the song to over 10 minutes long while singing extra lines to the song & shaking hands with the first couple of rows.
Absolutely incredible show….
Vanessa Carlton also rocked Van Andel. Her beautiful style with the piano along with her beautiful looks really lit up the performance. Carlton was very funny and entertaining (not just musically)
Thank you Stevie & Vanessa! You rock!
Kelley This was my second time seeing Stevie in one week! Earlier, Stevie had been at DTE in Clarkston, and put on an amazing show with Don Henley. I was extremely impressed by Don's performance (since I am more of a Stevie fan) and was blown away by Stevie. She looked absolutely stunning, and her performance was GOLD!
I then went to Grand Rapids this past Friday to see her yet again. I got my tickets just two days before the show, and got amazing seats. (2nd row) Vanessa Carrolton started the show and seemed a little nervous at first, but near the end I was pretty impressed by her performance, and the fact that she was so humble. She kept saying, "I know you are all here to see HER, we all love HER", referring to Stevie. The set list was as follows.....
Outside the Rain
Dreams
Enchanted
Stop Draggin My Heart Around
Rhiannon
Sorcerer - I was pleasantly surprised since this was not played ate DTE the week before.
Gold Dust Woman- Always amazing!
Stand Back-Once again always amazing, and I thought she wasn't going to do the kick this time, but she did at the end of it!
I Need To Know-LOVED IT!
Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You-This was a hard song for me, I was trying so hard not to cry and was extremely happy that she did in fact play it.
Circle Dance
Fall From Grace
Edge of Seventeen
Rock & Roll - Led Zep.-I didn't think that she could top Edge of 17, but this was amazing....I loved watching Stevie Rock out to Zep!
Beauty and the Beast-Once again a tearjerker, and it was even more beautiful than the first time I heard her sing it.
The night was absolutley ENCHANTING! Stevie is such an amazing performer and I am glad to have gotten the chance to see her again. She also got one of the poems I had written about her at DTE and I brought another one to Van Andel, which was personally delivered to her before the show. I hope she likes them!!! What an AMAZING week!
I can only hope that all of you die hard fans get this magical opportunity to see her at one of the shows. It is well worth the money. I would have paid a million to see her....between the two shows I spent just under $900.
I LOVE HER!
Meredith
Well, she's done it again. Even from the nosebleed section Stevie had us totally spellbound and completely Enchanted!!! As always, Stevie really rocked the house with her classics like "Rhiannon", "Dreams," "Gold Dust Woman" and "Stand Back". And it was great to hear "Fall from Grace" and "Sorcerer" from Trouble in Shangri La. Although we love Sheryl Crow, she wasn't missed as Sharon Celani powered out the harmonies on these tunes with Stevie. Wow . . . what a pair these two continue to be!!!
Although it's hard to pick a favorite, of the evenings big highlights was "Beauty and the Beast". The harmony on this between Stevie and the girls on this was truly haunting. And Stevie in her Victorian gown with her hair swept back was absolutely gorgeous!! Other highlights were Stevie's version of Tom Petty's, "I Need to Know", and a very unexpected version of Led Zeppelin's "Rock and Roll" to kick off the encore.
Stevie also included one of Bonnie Raitt's songs titled "Circle Dance" and commented that Bonnie called her and told her that no one had ever performed one of her songs before. Bonnie would be proud . . . Stevie sang the song with so much heart that you would think she wrote it herself.
All and all, Stevie and the band sounded better than ever from beginning to end. Thank you, Ms. Nicks, for yet another Enchanting evening!!!
Portasue Andary Great show and very special to me and my seven year
old daughter. It was her first ever concert and she
had a blast. She especially liked Stand Back -
banging her head like at a metal concert! Her
favorite song, though, was Beauty and the Beast. She
was mesmerized.
Thanks Stevie, for giving my little one a wonderful
memory!
