Stevie Nicks, She’s Back and Ready To Rock A Little For You.

Fleetwood Mac star Stevie Nicks had to learn to start thinking about tomorrow. When she did, she slimmed down, sobered up--and bounced back big-time. Today at 52, singer Stevie Nicks has cast aside any thought of kicking back, opting instead of reenter the music spotlight. In fact, Nicks is planning a benefit concert in her hometown, of Phoenix, the eve of releasing her first solo album since 1994. This concert is the hottest show since the Fleetwood Mac Reunion Tour in 1997, with tickets at $1000 and $500 selling out within hours of going on sale.

Stevie Nicks and Friends will benefit the Arizona Heart Foundation. It is scheduled for September 23 at America West Arena in Phoenix. Nicks has recruited Don Henley, Lindsey Buckingham and Sheryl Crow for the show. It has also been rumored that Mick Fleetwood and Tom Petty maybe heading toward the camelbacks in late September as well.

Industry insiders are expecting Nicks’ new solo effort to put her at the legendary status she has been deserving of for years.

Stevie Nicks is set to play a Sept. 23 concert at Phoenix's America West Arena to benefit the Arizona Heart Institute Foundation, a non-profit organization that promotes heart disease prevention programs and research. Sheryl Crow will join Nicks onstage, and brief appearances by Don Henley and Lindsey Buckingham are also planned.

The event will serve as the kick-off of a fundraising campaign for a community cardiovascular research and education building that the foundation plans to break ground on this fall. Tickets are on sale now; prices range from $25-$1,000.

A $1,000 ticket includes premium seating at the show, transportation by limousine to cocktails and dinner at the arena's Copper Club, admission to an after-party with Nicks and others, and other perks. It couldn't get any more West Coast if you threw in Dr. Dre on a surfboard. Stevie Nicks is organizing a September concert to benefit the Arizona Heart Institute Foundation, and she's playing with a bunch of friends who pretty much defined California rock. Nicks will be joined by the Eagles' Don Henley, Sheryl Crow, and her old Fleetwood Mac cohort Lindsey Buckingham.

Nicks has plenty of history with all three. Her breakup with Buckingham formed the core of Fleetwood Mac's best-selling Rumours LP. One of Nicks' first solo successes was her 1981 duet with former beau Henley, "Leather and Lace." Stevie also stopped by Sheryl Crow's taping of VH1 Storytellers to sing on her performance of "Strong Enough."

"She's going to do it or die," Stevie said of Crow to the magazine Scottsdale Life. "She said she's real excited about it. She knows it's for my dad. So the two of us are going to do something fabulous." Both of Nicks' parents have had heart-bypass surgery and Stevie's father, Jess, is the international council chairman of the AHIF.

"I can really look at my mom and dad and all the other people I know that are their age and have had heart problems and say, 'That's not going to be me. I'm not going to be ill,'" Nicks said. "When you have anything that happens to your heart, it really slows you down so much. You don't come back the same. You are different. I don't want to have a heart attack."

The Stevie Nicks and Friends concert is due to be held September 23 at Phoenix's America West Arena. Rumors abound that Lenny Kravitz and Chris Isaak will also join the lineup. The AHIF will use the proceeds to build a community education and research center in Phoenix.

Nicks is currently in the studio working on her new solo album, Trouble in Shangri-La, her first since 1994's Street Angel. The title might be apt: Nicks has already carved a path through seven producers. She explained the title to Scottsdale Life: "If you're in show business or sports and you're famous, there is a price that comes along with it. You get to have Shangri-La, but people just go crazy. So it's not so wonderful as everybody thinks sometimes."

Tickets, on sale via Ticketmaster and the America West Arena Box office, cost $25-65, with two donor packages available for $1000 and $500, each including special seating, gifts, a post-show party, and transportation to and from the event. The $1000 package also includes a pre-show dinner.

In conjunction with the event, the AHIF is also raffling off a custom-built motorcycle. The bike features an artist rendering of Stevie Nicks, signed by Nicks herself.

(7/24/00, 10 a.m. ET) - Stevie Nicks has lined up several of her friends to join her in a charity concert on September 23 in her home state of Arizona. The show, which will be held at the America West Arena in Phoenix, is billed as Stevie Nicks & Friends and will feature Sheryl Crow, Don Henley, and Nicks' former Fleetwood Mac bandmate Lindsey Buckingham.

The event is a fundraiser for the Arizona Heart Institute Foundation, and a spokesperson told LAUNCH that the concert is expected to bring in between $700,000 and $800,000, all of which will go towards construction of a new research and education building. Tickets priced at $25, $40, and $55 are on sale; the $65 seats, along with sponsorship packages priced at $500 and $1,000 per person, are already gone. It's the only scheduled show for the rest of the year for Nicks, Buckingham, and Crow, while Henley wraps up his Inside Job tour on September 10.

STEVIE NICKS CALLS IN FRIENDS FOR BENEFIT

A year after STEVIE NICKS joined SHERYL CROW for her concert in Central Park in New York, Crow will return the favor by performing at the "Stevie Nicks and Friends" benefit for the Arizona Heart Institute Foundation at the America West Arena in Phoenix on Sept. 23. DON HENLEY and LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM have also been confirmed as guest performers, with more likely to be announced soon. Henley and MICK FLEETWOOD turned out the last time Nicks did the benefit for the foundation in 1998.

Valley rock songstress Stevie Nicks will be joined by musical pals including Sheryl Crow for a fall concert at Phoenix's America West Arena to benefit the Arizona Heart Institute Foundation.

The Sept. 23 "Wells Fargo Stevie Nicks and Friends" show also will include brief appearances by ex-Eagle Don Henley and Lindsey Buckingham, a former bandmate of Nicks in Fleetwood Mac.

Nicks said she has thrown her support behind the Heart Institute's research because heart disease has had a deep effect on her family, including her father, former Valley concert promoter Jess Nicks, and her mother, Barbara.

"After seeing what he (Jess Nicks) and my mom went through a few years, it's like, 'Gee, we really have to find some cures,'" Stevie Nicks said this week.

Both the singer's parents have had heart bypasses.

Wells Fargo has donated $200,000 toward the concert and to help fund the institute's $5 million Arizona Community Cardiovascular Research and Education Center, which will be built in the fall next to the Arizona Heart Hospital in Phoenix.
