Here is my experience of the Madison Square Garden show....
First of all, I didn't think I was going to get to go this time around...I was upset, cause it would have been the first time Stevie toured that I missed since TOSOTM (I had seen her before that a number of times, but not Fleetwood Mac, so I don't count it as a solid run!) Anyway, an old friend of mine called me on Saturday with an extra ticket to
wednesday night's TP show at MSG...so I ended up going, after all...(If you are reading this, Thanks, Ron!!) ... I had no idea how I was
gonna be at work by 6 AM the next day...
how lucky I am!! ...first of all....about work, two of the people that work with
me are on vacation, so it's me and a sub doing the early work...anyway,
tuesday, the day of the show...i am at work knowing that tomorrow I have to
be here at 6 am...how am I ever going to do this? I am just not that
dedicated (to work....I am that dedicated to Stevie, obviously...lol...)
anyway...all of a sudden the manager comes up to me and goes "is there
anyway you can stay a little later tomorrow?" I was all "Uh, if I can come
in later, I can stay later!" YAY! When the hell does your boss ask you to
come in late!! AHHHH! relief!
Anyway, on to the show...first of all, Trey Anastasio opened...uh...SNORE....
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers took the stage .... and brought rock and
roll magic! They were freakin' awesome...one of the best shows I have ever
seen... It is such a great
show....they are basically calling this their last arena tour, so they broke
out all the hits...opened with my very favorite "Listen To Her Heart" ...Tom looked pretty good...still a bit like the Ghost Rider, but
better than recent pictures might have you believe...Mike is still HOT...he
had a head full of braids, and he was fantastic...Benmont was amazing...he
had 4 or 5 keyboards going at once...
after a couple of their jingle jangle best and a couple of covers that he
said showed some of their early influences (Yardbirds, FM's Oh Well) tom
said "around 76 or so our second album broke pretty big and we started
meeting a lot of famous people...a few years later we noticed we had a
little sister following us around on tour...please welcome Stevie
Nicks...she walked out to thunderous applause (and this was definately not
like the DH shows last year...it was mostly for him, with a few of us sprinkled
like golddust throughout the arena...) hugged and did Stop Draggin'...which
was without a doubt the best version, ever...Stevie's mic was on a pivot, so
at one point she spun with the whole damn thing so her back was to the
audience and her and Tom were having sort of a Silver Springs type magic
moment ... right after that Tom said "I wrote this song for our Second album.
Stevie does it pretty good, so she's gonna take the lead...WOO HOOO!!!! "I
Need To Know!!" She rocked it like a woman with a mission...and although she
did put in a few well placed "well I think you should go's" for the most
part, she did his version, not her own...with his vocal runs towards the
end...she was actually punk rock on it...wild, man...
she left the stage....he said "oh she'll be back in a bit!"...
They did some more hits...then he said we're gonna do a short accoustic set
here...more hits, but stripped down...then Stevie walks out and they do a
stripped down version of Insider ...absolutely
breathtaking...she then proceeds to sing bvs on Learning To Fly...awesome!
and then they amp it up... he does Don't Come Around here with Stevie (well,
she's doing bvs) totally rockin' it...then towards the end...you know when
it gets all psyched out flashback-ey? Well Our Stevie takes to the front of
the stage and becomes a manic panic go-go dancer from the depths of
hell...she is flipping her head .,..her hair is flying ... her shawls and
layers are taking up the whole stage the tamborine is on effin'
fire...those boots (which she wore all night long...NO REBOKS!) were up and
down, sideways...she shook it like a freakin' 20 year old...the lights were
strobing...it was a moment I will never forget...she left the stage after
that song...the hbs did a few more hits...she came out and sang bvs on
American Girl for the finale...and that was that...
in all the years of me seeing Stevie, she has never rocked this hard...if
only it had been a full concert it would have been my favorte show of hers
ever...if the rumors of FM are true and it is really over (yeah, right) and
if she no longer wants to do solo stuff...well, then, Join the
Heartbreakers, Stevie...this was just so effin' awesome...
Anyway, that was my take on one of the best shows I've ever witnessed...Long Live Stevie...the undisputed Queen of rock and roll!!!

Wow!! I just got home, and my mind is blown away!! I probably wont sleep tonight because my adrenaline is still pumping. The show tonight was AMAZING!!! Tom petty and those damn heartbreakers rocked the house. It was pretty packed so im gonna say that it was sold out, the energy in the place was just unreal. The show was packed with hits, half way through the set, our angel, stevie came out to thunderous applause. And sang SDMHA, with tom whcih was a dream come true. I;ve seen her do it with don and waddy, but were talking tom petty here folks!! the original, the man who gave stevie this amazing tune. Then she burst into " I need to know" and danced! danced not walked off stage. My heart broke for a little while but Tom and the gang almost got me to forget that stevie was even there. And then there she was, reemerged from stage right. They sang the beautiful song "the insider" what a treat. I had never even heard the song before, but i've already ordered the cd from amazon, lol. And then the incomparable Miss Nicks started singing back up! A mega star singing backup, doesnt happen to often, She sang along to "learning to fly" and "dont come around here no more". And the encore American Girl. ok time to try and sleep, but my last words are. If you have you have the chance to catch one of stevies last shows with tom do not sit on your hands!!! I have seen stevie and the Mac countless times, yet i have never seen her glow tonight the way she did. It was pure magic. So stop reading this and get on ticketmaster!!
Thanks all

I took my 9 year old son to see Stevie play with Tom Petty. It was well worth the wait for her to come out. Despite four rowdy guys behind us, we were treated
to another Stevie energetic performance. At the end of Don't Come Around Here No More, as was
reviewed in past concerts, Stevie let loose. It was so good to see her again, even though she
wasn't on stage all that long, just a reminder that she is still out there and I am sure will
tour again soon enough. I was able to take 90 pictures this time, several came out great.

The Tom Petty/Stevie show was great last night at MSG. Stevie stole the
show. She looked beautiful and sounded great. She was our regular little
Stevie dancing around and playing the tambourine. I was shocked to find
out how many fans there last night did not even know Stevie was making a
special appearance. They were pleasantly surprised. Stevie sounded great
on Insider, but it appeared not many fans knew this Stevie/Tom treasure.
Stevie looked so cute for American Girl, she was dressed in total black
with a pink feather in her hair, she looked simply stunning. For a time,
it felt like being at a Stevie concert, it was just magic. Can't wait to
see Stevie again real soon.

The end to a 25 year wish.
I always wanted to hear Stevie and Tom do Stop Dragging My Heart around. All I can say is It was HEAVEN at the Garden last night.

Last night I was witness to one of the best rock
shows this year. It was Tom Petty and the
Heartbreakers and special guest Stevie Nicks at
Madison Square Garden. All I have to say is "AWSOME".
I just wish this show would some day be release on
DVD. The crowd was on it's feet throughout the show. I
wish they would do a tour together. At least do a
couple of shows together and come to the Garden.
There is no place like the Garden to see a show.
I just can't wait for the next Stevie tour and please
come and play at NYC.

I had 2 seats in 64 Row G, which turned out to be fourth row because 64 started at D. These seats were probably better than floor. It was the first level up from the floor and they were so close that you could see the sweat rolling down Petty's face and everybody's faces. On to the show:
Listen To Her Heart-Petty and the boys tuned their guitars and started the show with this...you could hear the crowd singingover him:laugh:
You Don't Know How It Feels-Petty says it's great to be back in the City after two years. The crowd really loved this one...Petty was really gettinginto it:drumming it out and holding his head down at the mic.
I Won't Back Down-Another crowd sing along especially in the line,"Hey Baby...there ain't no easy way out."
Free Fallin-INCREDIBLE...I just wish Stevie could have sang with him on this one.
Saving Grace-New song from Highway Companion...I heard it on an NBA Finals commercial...It's very Southern bluesy like an Allman Bros song...I like it...
I'm A Man-Nice rendition but I like the slower Bo Diddley one better. People start screaming STEVIE!!!
Oh Well-AWESOME...He was great with the maraccas. He was standing on one foot sliding across the stage shaking them:laugh:
Handle With Care-It was pretty cool to hear a Wilbury's song but I wasn't crazy about it.
Band intros and will you please welcome STEVIE NICKS!!! :crowdgoescrazy:
Stop Draggin' My Heart Around-WOW!!! Stevie was kicking her leg up revealing the beautiful suede boots...great vocals and dance moves.
Crowd still crazy over Stevie
I Need to Know-ROCKED!!! More kicks and tambo rocking.
Stevie left and acoustic set came...
Melinda and Square One-Tom introduced them as songs he was very close to...
And now the moment we've been waiting for for 25 years:
Insider-Beautiful, beautiful duet and vocals...Stevie sounded angelic...I felt like I was in heaven listening to her on that one.
Learning to Fly-A great sing along with Petty and the crowd...Stevie also did a great job on backround vocals.
Don't Come Around Here No More-Tom and Stevie really rocked out at the end of this song. Between Petty rocking his guitar and Stevie banging her head and tambo, it was all amazing.
Refugee-Loved it...every single moment of it. It was probably one of the best songs of the night. A great rocker for Petty and the crowd.
Running Down A Dream-Another great rocker...Great guitar solos. Petty walked right to my section.
Petty and the boys say goodbye and I lit my lighter and opened my cellphone.
You Wreck Me-AWESOME!!!AWESOME!!!AWESOME!!! It was so great...such a great encore.
Mystic Eyes-Honestly, I was singing along to it but I rather would have heard Gloria:( OH WELL!!!
American Girl-I screamed Stevie and waved and she looked at me and smiled. She looked great with her famous pants outfit on and one hand with the glove and one with her tambo. Petty asked us to make the loudestnoise he's ever heard at Madison Square garden tonight...we did. American Girl was awesome. Tom let Stevie have a little tambo solo where kicked her leg up. AWESOME!!!
Petty said that he would see us soon and they had their final bows and left us with memories of a magical night...Love you Stevie!!!

I attended the June 20 show in New york City's Madison Square Garden with my husband... we are long-time forever fans of Stevie and Tom. The show was awesome, Tom changed guitars after everysong, it seemed like. These are true rock gods and goddess.Timeless ageless songs hit after hit they played till midnight. It was DREAM FOR ME TO FINALLY see one of the best rock duets of allllllllll time sung together."Stop Draggin My Heart Around". They sang "I need to know" with the intensity of teenagers... Stevie looked as glamorous and truly happy as can be. She sang back up on alot of songs, Dont come round here no more, American Girl, Tom and Stevie sang "Insider"Her voice is angelic, I've seen her so many times evrytime she sings a ballad, it brings me to tears, The beauty and energy she puts into her performances, the energy and light fills the room with love, as you all know, if you ever seen a concert of Stevie's. Another thing before I bring this to a close I could ramble on for days LOL Tom really set the room on fire, Imagine this All of MSG singing your song as loud as can be with you "Free Fallin" Last Dance with MaryJane"... He let us know he felt us as an audience too... He sang ,You make me feel so good, and put his hand over his heart and sang back and forth with us all. A night to remember forever. I'd like to thank Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers for putting on a great show and Stevie for being a great part of it.

I needed a Nicks Fix BAD! In the back of my mind I KNEW Stevie would find a way to reach us Nicks fans this year home in the USA! I had the joyous opportunity to see Tom Petty AND The Heartbreakers (along with long term Heartbreaker Stevie Nicks) in Madison Square Garden, NYC, NY on Tuesday June 20th, 2006-- with five of my fabulous friends! I loved the entire show. Hey! It's New York City, and the audience was on their feet the entire show, singing, swaying, and taking it all in. (except for a bit of recoup time during a beautiful acoustic set where a lot of fans collapsed!) I've seen Tom a few times on tour, and he always has a gorgeous stage, and the music is totally electrically charged. What a treat it was to see Benmont Tench on keyboards, Mike Campbell looking fabulous wearing a wild purple scarf on guitar and bass, and hear Tom introduce the band, with the history they have all had together. As others have mentioned, the show was heavy on greatest hits, including my personal favorites: Don't Come Around Here No More (STOP!), Free Fallin' (you gotta witness Stevie flyin' during the song!) , Listen To Her Heart . . . BUT, I have to repeat, the LADY Heartbreaker, the Ayatolla of Rock & Rolla, our very own "Soul Sister Stevie Nicks" took things to a new height with a serious rendition of "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" dueting with writer Tom Petty, "I Need To Know" (she even did it soLO!) and a second tender duet that drove alot of us Nicks Fans to scramble for tickets: "Insider." "Oh yeah . . . all right! Take it easy baby . . . Make it last, baby . . . Make it last ALL night!" That's how we all felt about the show: we did not want it to end. I hear there may be MORE shows with Stevie later this tour! Keep us up to speed, Nicks Fix! You do NOT want to miss this! Thank you Tom. Thank you Stevie!
