Thanks to John Kinney here at Nicksfix, I found out that she would be Tom's "Highway Companion" in Atlanta in time to make this show! I'll admit that I would have never considered attending a Tom Petty concert without the premise of a few songs with Stevie, but I must admit that I was rocking and rolling even when she wasn't in sight! I almost fainted when the opening chords of "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" began. I remembered back to when my Father would play the LP in our den when I was 7 years old, and I never dreamed I'd hear them sing it together! Thank you Tom and Stevie for that moment of bliss, as I never knew that a live performance could sound so flawless. As always, "I Need To Know" was a crowd-pleaser! It was at that moment that I realized that she has lost at least 20 lbs. since her last tour in my opinion. It must be the aerobic workouts of dancing to this song, along with the others and to my favorite song of the night..."Don't Come Around Her No More." There are no words to describe the joy I felt while watching her dance in the strobe lights (Thanks, John...for the heads up before the show!) with her tambourine! It was like she went back in time 25 years...and I could feel the energy she emitted! She absolutely glowed - BRIGHTER THAN THE LIGHTS! That was amazing...I was speechless! I almost cried after they finished "Insider", because I knew that she wouldn't be center stage again during the night...BUT just watching her dance majestically off to the side while singing back up harmonies to Tom's "Learning to Fly" was "EAR CANDY" to me. It reminded me of hearing her sing "Whenever I Call you Friend" for the first time when I was a kid with Kenny Loggins. Now if only we could get the two of them to appear on stage together...I could die a happy camper! To "TOP" off the evening and her beautiful hair, Stevie appeared in her Yankee Doodle Dandy hat that I adore! It fit the moment and song perfectly as she backed Tom up on "All-American Girl"...and boy is she one of those! She's definitely the epitome of a "Patriot" with her hat and red/white/blue ribbons on her tambourine...ABSOLUTE AMERICAN PERFECTION! Hey, I think those Vodka people should bottle her...don't you? She only gets better with age just like their product too! Thank you again John for the heads up and Stevie for joining Tom on his tour! Here's hoping you join Lindsey too!

You Need to Know…

Last night at Hi-fi Buys Amphitheatre was simply magical. My good friend from Dallas, TX came in for the show, adding to my overwhelming excitement about seeing Stevie with Tom & the Heartbreakers…our seats were pretty good, 22nd row. Being a BIG fan of both artists, I thoroughly enjoyed every song. I must tell you that my favorite moment of the entire show was towards the end of Don’t Come Around Here No More. The music revved up and the strobe light came on…Stevie went crazy! She was dancing wildly, throwing her head around, and slamming that tambourine! It was exhilarating to watch…very reminiscent of the early Rhiannon performances. I won’t say she stole the show (that would be rude), but Ms. Nicks certainly added to it in multitudes. The entire concert was packed with solid hits (Mary Jane’s Last Dance, Free Fallin’, Refugee) and incredible entertainment. Here’s to Tom & the band - breaking our hearts for 30 more years, and including the mystifying Stevie Nicks on several more occasions.
