Petty with Stevie Nicks 2006 - FAN REVIEWS
9/27/06 Coors Amphitheater
San Diego, CA
Knight714 It was like out of a dream. I was being drawn to a concert. I didn’t know why I just knew it was the way I needed to go. Everything was going my way and more? I was at a Tom Petty concert with Stevie!
Well what I mean to say is Tom Petty Rocks! Then Stevie walks out…"everything was alright for just a moment" …and starts to rock too.
The fast numbers were awesome and the slow ones my jaws became unclenched as I swayed to the music. Both Stevie and Tom & the Heartbreakers were as strong as ever. They had smiles and their love for the music shone through. Stevie’s hair glowed in the light as she sang and danced to several songs. It was an awesome night!
Then the lights came on and it was time to leave. Yes, "coming down…is the hardest thing. Thank-you all! xoxo
Jamie Maletic The San Diego show was amazing last night! Beck opened and he was really good. I'm not a huge Beck fan, but I appreciated his genuine talent. He had this puppet show (marionettes) on stage. Each puppet represented a band member and was even dressed like each band member. Pretty Funny. They were up there for the whole time Beck was on stage. When the band left the stage for a mini-break, they played a puppet video they had shot at some time before the show. It had the puppets walking around the venue and into Tom Petty's dressing room, ultimately trashing it and getting drunk. Hilarious!
On to Tom..
He was great as usual! The venue set up was a little differnt this time compared to FM/Stevie shows we'd been to though. They had a metal barracade up between the front row and the stage, allowing many camera people and photgraphers in to film. (maybe for the documentary we have heard about?) Our seats were great - 5th row center, and conveniently directly in front of Stevie's mic. When Stevie came out, the whole place went nuts! "SDMHA" was great, she rocked on "INTK" and "Insider" was beautiful. She used a higher pitch on "Insider" - I love when she does that. She sounds like when she was younger. "Don't Come Around Here No More" was so fun! Stevie would kick at the part, "HEY! Don't come around here no more" And she totally thrashed around at the end. During "Learning To Fly", she did these really interesting hand movements, almost hula like. Very cool and very Stevie. She even motioned a crown over her head when he sang, "Steal your crown." "American Girl" ended it all, with Stevie in her hat, pants, and this time she had a big puffy black scarf on too. (It was a little chilly for her I guess) Oh, and we did get a little Stevie love with a smile or two.
