The 'Shower of Affection' or 'Water Salute' is a very special show of honor, reserved for only a few. It is ordinarily given to retiring pilots on their final landing, and to dignitaries. Each and every day, every military flight that lands at DFW receives the Shower of Affection, weather permitting, by DFW Airport Fire and Rescue. The Water Salute consists of two "water turrets" carrying 3,000 gallons of water with nozzles discharging 1,500 gallons of water per minute.
